Axiom Gardening Insights Survey: Growing More in 2022 – PerishableNews

October 15, 2021 by Gardening

Gardening is becoming much more than a hobby as well as more youthful garden enthusiasts are driving green sector growth. Those are the most recent findings of Axiom’s 2022 Horticulture Insights Study. The yearly sector survey forecasts the trend of investing more time and money gardening will continue in 2022.

The findings, first announced at real Worth House and also Garden Show Location Get-together, reveal the pandemic is not the only factor driving home owners’ rate of interest in horticulture. In fact, their factors for developing exterior spaces are increasing.

The study, conducted by Axiom Advertising, a Minneapolis based firm, found 62% of those checked claim they will be growing extra in 2022. That number is also greater with millennials, with virtually 76% of that age preparing to increase and plant even more. Simply over 30% of all participants say they will certainly plant about the like they did in 2021.

2022 will certainly see garden enthusiasts investing more money and time, with 44% showing they intend to invest even more hours gardening in 2022 than they did this year. More than 28% say they will spend even more money in 2022, almost 68% will certainly invest the like they did in 2021. When asked what is driving their rate of interest, the leading action focused on horticulture’s capacity to reduced tension and also produce a total feeling of health and wellness as well as wellness. Investing even more time with household outdoors and spending more time in the house linked for 2nd, while producing a beautiful outside space and also food horticulture tied for 3rd.

Property owners additionally informed us they were feeling confident this period, with 84% of those evaluated stating they felt they succeeded with their horticulture tasks in 2021. “That’s holding stable from last year’s findings,” states Kathleen Hennessy, head of Axiom’s gardening advertising and marketing team. “What is a lot more motivating is that number jumps to greater than 90% when it comes to millennials. Our team believe if this team feels successful, that means the sector will have long-lasting growth. Millennials see horticulture as greater than simply a pastime, it’s an expansion of their house and also a chance to enhance outdoor living space.”

When asked where house owners bought the majority of their plants, Independent Garden Centers slipped by big box shops, with 27% claiming IGCs were their best resource. The top reason for buying there? Sustaining a regional organization. “Much better option came in 2nd,” adds Hennessy. “That tells us IGCs need to accentuate their duty in the area. It’s a variable that is important to both skilled and brand-new gardeners.”

The study also discovered where home owners opt for motivation, obstacles to investing even more time in the yard and the kinds of tasks they’ll tackle in 2022. For more details on the Axiom 2022 Gardening Study, download the report below: https://axiomcom.com/2022-gardening-survey/
