As fall gets here, we see seasonal decors turning up throughout our neighborhoods.
Fall is the season where harvest celebrates the effort put in during the summertime and the success that arises from this diligence. We use natural flowers and fruits to include joyful accents around our homes and landscapes. These decorations can be set up in centerpieces, incorporated in planters, or sporadically included throughout your backyard to highlight fall colors, pumpkins, or other seasonal decors.
Popular decors during fall are corn, gourds, hay bales, mums and pumpkins. Although they may seem to be simply a part of the season, each of these products is representative of the festivities we commemorate during fall:
- Corn represents bounty through the many kernels on each cob and the fields that seem nonstop as they extend towards the horizon.
- Gourds are thought to bring blessings, motivate health and protect versus evil.
- Hay bales advise us of the harvest and highlight fall sensations in our seasonal displays.
- Mums are particularly symbolic throughout this time of year! They represent optimism, health and pleasure. Mums can be found in brilliant yellow, orange and red. Yellow flowers signify intellect and wealth; orange flowers highlight energy, creativity, and warmth; and red flowers represent success.
- Pumpkins are the earth’s gold! Native Americans valued pumpkins since they might be stored long into winter. With their bulging shapes, they are a sign for bounty, luck and success!
Many flowers include seasonal colors and look wonderful in gardens and containers.
Popular fall annuals consist of celosia, dianthus, dirty miller, marigolds, pansies, petunias, snapdragons, and violas. If you choose perennials, search for crotons, firespike, geraniums, loropetalum, mums, pentas, and salvia.
Come by the nursery to gather your fall flowers, hay bales and more! Happy designing!
